Top 15 finishers to earn Category 3 status, with Category 11 extended to players finishing 16th to 30th
The MENA Golf Tour has expanded the number of playing cards available at its England Qualifying School after entries passed 70 for the event at the Royal Automobile Club’s Old Course.
With demand so high, the Tour has increased the number of players earning Category 3 status to the top 15 finishers. In addition, players finishing between 16th and 30th will earn Category 11 status, giving a wider group of qualifiers a route onto the Tour for the coming season.
To keep the process fair and simple, there will be no play-off for 15th or 30th place. Any players tied for 15th will all receive Category 3 status, and any players tied for 30th will all receive Category 11 status.
Keith Waters, Commissioner and Chairman of the MENA Golf Tour, said:
“After the success and quality of the players who qualified at our Scottish Q-School at Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club, it’s great to see demand for the England Q-School go beyond our expectations. We have therefore decided to increase the number of cards available so that they reflect the size and strength of the field. It’s a clear sign of how attractive the MENA Golf Tour has become for ambitious professionals looking to take the next step in their careers.”
The new season will open with three events in Cairo, each carrying US$100,000 in prize money. More tournaments, including events in Morocco and the United Arab Emirates, will be announced shortly. The MENA Golf Tour expects the coming campaign to be its strongest yet, with more playing opportunities, high prize funds and a clear pathway for players to progress.
