Egyptian Open to crown 2026 Egypt Golf Series as Grand Final with $200,000 prize fund

The Egyptian Open will bring the 2026 Egypt Golf Series to a close at Madinaty Golf Club, Cairo, from 8 to 10 December, with a confirmed prize fund of US$200,000. The historic championship will serve as the Grand Final of the Egypt Golf Series following 16 previous events throughout the season, while also forming the third of the opening three tournaments of the MENA Golf Tour’s 2026/27 season.

Omar Hisham Talat, Egyptian Golf Federation Chairman and Chief Business Development Officer for TMG (pictured below), said: “The Egyptian Open is the jewel in the crown of our Egypt Golf Series. For more than a hundred years its champions have inspired generations of Egyptian golfers, and many of our greatest players made their names at this event. Working alongside the MENA Golf Tour to promote this historic tournament is a testament to the close relationship both organisations have built.

“National opens exist to give golfers a platform to progress in the game, and this championship will do exactly that for Egyptian players and international talent alike. Our hope is that the next great Egyptian champion will emerge from this field. We are proud to welcome the Tour to Madinaty and New Giza, and to showcase the quality of golf in Egypt. I wish every player the very best of luck, not only in our country’s events but for the season ahead.”

The Egypt Golf Series has featured 16 events throughout the 2026 season, culminating in the Egyptian Open as its Grand Final. Separately, the MENA Golf Tour’s 2026/27 season begins with three tournaments in Egypt: the Cairo Open at Madinaty Golf Club from 28 to 30 November, followed by the New Giza Classic at New Giza Golf Club from 3 to 5 December, before returning to Madinaty for the Egyptian Open from 8 to 10 December. These are the first three events of the MENA Golf Tour’s 2026/27 season, rather than the entirety of the Egypt Golf Series.

Leading players from the 2026 Egypt Golf Series, together with the top performers from the preceding two MENA Golf Tour events — the Cairo Open and New Giza Classic — will qualify for the Egyptian Open. The remaining field will be drawn from the MENA Golf Tour’s exempt categories. All players making the cut will receive prize money and Official World Golf Ranking points.

Keith Waters, Commissioner and Chairman of the MENA Golf Tour, said: “The Egyptian Open gives the Egypt Golf Series the finale it deserves. Increasing the prize fund and rewarding leading players from across the Egypt Golf Series, alongside top performers from the first two MENA Golf Tour events, means there is plenty to play for in Cairo. We look forward to an exciting finish to the year.”
