Dalziel wins Scottish Q-School as Coxon claims final card in play-off

Greg Dalziel led a Scottish one-two at Dalmahoy Golf Club, while England’s Will Coxon secured the final MENA Golf Tour card in a dramatic sudden-death play-off.

Dalziel followed his opening 67 with a closing 68 to finish at 11 under par, two shots clear of compatriot John Paterson, as ten players earned their cards for the 2026/27 season.

Despite leading by three heading into the final round, Dalziel kept his attention firmly on his own game in challenging conditions.

“To be honest, I don’t really look at leaderboards at all when I play,” he said. “If I know I’m in the lead and I’m playing well, then I wait until I’m on the 18th green and have a wee look.”

The victory provides a timely confidence boost ahead of his first MENA Golf Tour campaign.

“It’s been an up-and-down season for me,” added Dalziel. “There’s a lot of the boys playing it now, so it’s a big group of us.”

Paterson’s closing 67 secured second place at nine under, with fellow Scot Sean Kennedy third at six under. Having played the course for the first time in the opening round, Paterson felt more comfortable on his return.

“I was trying to catch Greg just for some bragging rights, but I played quite nicely,” he said. “I came in here just trying to get a card and make it stress-free, and I managed to do that, so job done for me.”

The final card was decided in a play-off between Coxon and Italy’s Lucas Fallotico after both finished at two under. Coxon’s rounds of 73 and 71 gave him a 144 total before he prevailed at the first extra hole, holing a putt from almost the same position where he had missed during regulation play.

“I knew I’d played well for 36 holes and the conditions have been pretty brutal all day,” said Coxon. “I was quite happy with where my game was and pretty confident I could get the job done.”

For Coxon, the card opens the door to valuable competitive golf through the winter.

“It’s a great opportunity to have,” he added. “Being able to go and play golf year-round is a big thing for us with how bad the weather is here over winter.”
